Turks and Caicos Vacation | Kelly Wilson Photography
It’s been a little quiet around here in regards to client sessions, and this is why…
Soft white sand, turquoise water, warm air, and sunshine…doesn’t it just sound like heaven? I can assure you it was! Back in October, my cousin tossed out the idea of a girls trip for the two of us somewhere in the Caribbean, I don’t think I even pondered it for half a second before I said, “YES, when do we leave?!” Haha! We met with a travel agent, decided on Turks and Caicos, and then saw the Beaches resort with all of the family friendly activities which got us thinking about bringing the whole family along rather than just the two of us going as a girls trip. On site water park, swim up ice cream bar, snorkeling, kayaking, wind surfing, sand castle building, tennis, aquatrikes, sailing, paddleboarding…yep, we should take the kids! In the end, we decided to leave our youngest two (my cousin’s 3 year old and my 3 year old) at home with grandma’s because we were not sure how they would do on the flights. As it turns out, they would have had a blast, but we couldn’t have done all of the activities with them so I’m glad we left them at home with grandma and grandpa. They got lots of love and spoiling, and we did too! Win win for everyone!
We booked our trip back in October, can I just say it felt like FOREVER for February to get here?! And of course there were a few stressors just prior to leaving, my 3 year old came down with bronchitis so we had a visit to minor emergency five days before we left. He had an allergic reaction to the antibiotic so we ended up back at the minor emergency to address that a few days later. And my cousin’s daughter had severe stomach cramps 3 days prior to leaving, they spent countless hours in two emergency rooms trying to figure out what the cause was and to rule out appendicitis. Thankfully everyone was mostly feeling better by the time we left. Of course the weather had to throw us a curve ball too. Our flight left at 6AM Tuesday morning with a connecting flight in Atalanta at 9:45AM. Monday night Georgia declared a state of emergency in anticipation of the upcoming storm scheduled to hit Tuesday morning. Thankfully it was only raining when we landed and took off, but apparently that turned to ice and snow shortly after. As we were landing in Turks, the pilot announced that we were the “lucky ones” because he had just received word that the T&C flight for the following day had been cancelled! Whew, just squeaked in!!
The Beaches resort was fabulous. Very kid friendly, and I would say at least 95% of the guests staying there had children with them. The resort was all inclusive, so we had free access to all of the activities I mentioned above along with food and drinks. We went snorkeling, kayaking, and took a couple of tours while we were there too. The Kitty Katt cruise included a little snorkeling, a stop at a secluded beach to play and search for keepsake shells, snacks and drinks. It was amazing, and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting T&C! We also did the submarine tour, which was a really interesting way to view the marine life.
But my favorite part of the trip….most definitely the beach! It was gorgeous, bright blue skies, soft white sand, turquoise water with minimal waves…HEAVEN!
We are finally all settled back in from our trip, and sessions resume this week. So excited about the two newborns I’ll be working with later this week, check back for sneak peeks of some gorgeous baby boys on Friday!
